The easiest way to travel to Praia da Luz is to fly to Faro airport which is approximately 1 hours drive from the house. You are advised to book your flights early especially if you are travelling during peak season or school holidays. Lisbon is the next closest airport but is a much longer drive (c. 3-4 hours). For the duration of your stay in Portugal you will probably find a hire car advisable. Most of the major operators are represented at Faro e.g. Hertz, Budget, Avis, Europcar etc.

To get to the house exit Faro Airport. There is now a feeder road from the airport onto the main coast road, the N125. Follow directions for Lisbon/Portimao. You will be offered the IP1 motorway after a few miles to Lisbon/Ouest/Sagres, follow this. Eventually the road to Lisbon peels off to the right, you continue west which will by then be signed to Portimao and/or Sagres. There is a link road off this leading to the A22, the new motorway, west toward Portimao, Albufeira, Lisbon. This road now runs uninterrupted all the way beyond and to the west of Lagos. Travel times have been reduced to as little as 45 minutes depending on familiarity with the route and time of day. Allow 45 minutes - 1 hour to the LAGOS-VILA DE BISPO exit (Exit 1 off the motorway, not Exit 2 - Lagos). After exiting west of Lagos, cross over one roundabout and at the second turn right toward. Vila de Bispo. After a few kms there is a sign post left to Praia da Luz. On entering Praia da Luz the road immediately becomes one way and it is necessary to turn left down the hill. At the base there is a T junction (in front of the Luz Bay Hotel), turn right and follow the winding road past villas to reach a junction (with a mirror as the line of sight is obscured). Turn left, down the hill to a small roundabout (a car park is on the right), turn left and through the gates to the Parque de Praia. Straight ahead, keeping right where the road divides, and straight ahead again. This road crosses over a small lane, the blue/white painted cottage and rear entry to Casa do Mar is visible ahead. Take care at this crossing.

If, however, you would prefer not to hire a car we can arrange for a Taxi to meet you at Faro and take you to the house as well as return you to the airport. A taxi will take up to 4 people. Each trip from Faro airport to Praia da Luz or vice versa costs €80. On Saturdays, Sundays and national holidays there is a surcharge of 20%. Taxis for larger groups can be arranged on request. Taxi-mini-buses are available from some firms.
